In my quest to establish consistency with our food budget I have decided I need to follow these simple rules.
1. Never take anyone with me grocery shopping (Jordan included)
2. Meal plans are my friend (stop being lazy)
3. Stay away from the middle of the store.
4. Don't bother visiting the frozen food aisle
5. Don't go shopping on Sunday - they are always out of sale items, and the lines are ridiculous.
And, finally stop being lazy --
Do you have any suggestions?

Enjoy your blog :) One thing I would say is that I find that I spend less when I shop multiple times a week. I'm terrible at planning meals and invariably buy things I don't cook. I guess it seems counterintuitive, but shopping for ONLY what I need has helped us. And it also allows you to manage your budget even better. Friday night may end up being a dinner on the cheap, but for the rest of the week, you got EXACTLY what you wanted for dinner.
Great idea Sarah - thanks for the comment. I really could stop by the store on the way home from work -- but, I have been trying to cut down on the number of transactions we make -- I figured less places, less money spent -- but it isn't working out quite as well as I'd hoped.
